Is That Really Me?

The Short Answer

One rule, and it covers every case

If an account is not on my official links page, it is not me. The four accounts listed there are the only ones I vouch for. Anything claiming to be my backup, my second page or my old account isn't me.

That page is the complete list — every account I vouch for, with the exact handle for each. I keep it current, and it is the only list I stand behind. Everything below is just detail for people who want to understand why this keeps happening.

Why This Keeps Happening

One handle on two apps, two more names everywhere else

X and Instagram are easy, I'm buffalobillsbae on both. Then my OnlyFans is scorpiosign and my Linktree is Buffaluv, so there are three right answers, not one. That's the gap a fake account goes for. A page called buffalobillsbae1 or scorpiosign_ looks like a typo, not a stranger.

The safest thing you can do is never type a handle from memory. Open the links page and click through from there.

What to Look For

Four things to watch for

1. They add a number, a dot, or an extra letter

The easiest fake is my real handle with something small stuck on: a number at the end, a dot in the middle, an extra letter. It reads as a typo. It isn't.

2. They call themselves my "backup account"

The four accounts on my links page are the only ones I vouch for. Anything claiming to be my backup, private page or second page isn't me. If a bio says it's a new account because the old one got banned, next to my pictures, it isn't me.

3. They repost my stuff as if it were theirs

Copying my pictures and captions takes about ten seconds. An account like that usually exists to collect followers and then send them somewhere off the app where nobody can report anything.

4. They message you first

I don't slide into your messages asking for money or gift cards. An account that calls itself AB BAE or abbey but has a different handle is a stranger, however much it looks like me. My only account on X is @buffalobillsbae, no underscore, no numbers.

The people who lose here are not me. They're the ones who got talked into sending money to someone wearing my face.

Anything else I have to say about it goes on the blog.

If You Find One

What actually helps

  • Report it as impersonation, not as spam. The impersonation category is the one that gets accounts removed, and a report from a real follower carries more weight than another one from me.
  • Don't engage with it. Comments and arguments push it further into other people's feeds, which is the opposite of what you want.
  • Never send it money, and never send anyone money who messaged you first claiming to be me.
  • Don't repost screenshots of it. Same problem — it spreads the account.
  • Send it to me through one of my real accounts if you want. It genuinely helps to know.

Press

Press and interviews: nothing I've authorised

I have not authorised any interview, podcast appearance, profile or "biography" of me, and I don't claim any awards, nominations or rankings. If you find a page with details about me that aren't on this site, nobody involved checked them with me.

I'm saying it plainly because sites that generate "biographies" automatically tend to make up whatever is missing, and an empty record is a lot easier to correct later than an invented one. Everything I have actually said is on the blog, and the verified facts about me are on the about page.
